Hello third trimester! Just a few short months ago it seemed like the third trimester was so far away, but here we are. It’s hard to believe that April 30 is now less than 3 months away, but at the same time I’m ready for it!
The weekly fruit & veggie comparisons are not as fun as they used to be, namely because baby is now gaining more weight than inches. There are only so many produce items that fit this size. I think this week we’re a ‘large’ eggplant at just under 15 inches and over 2 pounds!
I think Chickpea is going to be a very active kid, judging by the amount of movements and kicks I get throughout the day. They’re still strongest at night and now I’m noticing more stretching movements than just ‘kicks’. It’s definitely strange to see those lumps move across my stomach, but I’m having a hard time getting them on camera.
Does ‘large’ count as a symptom? Because that’s how I’m feeling these days. It’s hard to believe that I have quite a few more weeks of growing left to do! It’s getting increasingly difficult to tie my own shoes. (What a bizarre problem to have, BTW.) The bump definitely gets in the way of bending over, and on top of that bending squishes everything together and leaves me short of breath. It’s like a workout pregame to put on my sneakers before I even get out the door.
Speaking of workouts, thanks to the warm weather I’ve been able to take the bump for a run/walk a few times this past week. Sometimes running feels ok and sometimes it doesn’t, so I just go with it. One mile running and 1-2 miles walking seems to be the sweet spot. I really want to make more of an effort to do some more yoga as we get closer to d-day.
Another symptom- I think the fatigue is making an appearance again. Hopefully it’s not as bad as the first trimester!
I’m still more into sweet stuff than I usually am, but have been able to mainly keep that under control with fruit and a bite of dessert after dinner. I am, however, having a ‘thing’ with cereal; I can’t get enough of it! There are currently 4 different boxes in the pantry and I rotate through them. Meaning I’ll eat two bowls of raisin bran and then have a small bowl of cocoa puffs for ‘dessert’. Luckily, that only happened once!
Other than my obsession with cereal, my appetite has been fairly normal. Hopefully that continues!
I have a love/hate relationship with the Snoogle. It’s becoming increasingly necessary to sleep with it and it does keep me on my side, but it also gets extremely uncomfortable by the end of the night. For some reason I wake up with stiff shoulders after sleeping with it. Not to mention it’s like having an extra person in bed, and with the dog already taking up her fair share of space, it’s just a little much!
I’m itching to finish up the nursery! We have the crib set up (no mattress yet), a pile of baby gifts in the corner, and the stroller, but we still need to finish a closet project in our bedroom before we can fully move everything out of the baby’s room that doesn’t belong there. I can’t wait to wash and hang up all of the cute little outfits we’ve received so far.
We still need a few big items like a rocker or glider and changing table, so that’s my big to-do list by the end of this month.
Can’t wait to see a snuggly little baby in that crib!
